Jason Lindner (Keyboard)

Jason Lindner grew up in a household where music was always accessible and started out playing the piano by ear at a young age. Despite brief affairs with other instruments, he hasn’t left the piano ever since. He met many of his current musical colleagues during his years at the High School of Music and Art in New York City and was inspired by the lessons he learnt from the esteemed Barry Harris. Another revered teacher later in Lindner’s career was the great Chris Anderson, who had profound influence on many pianists including Herbie Hancock and Bill Evans. Playing “Latin” music while living in New York City, Lindner’s experiences in exploring the roots of jazz led him to a growing appreciation for the African origins of the music we listen today. Since then, he has performed in numerous projects with notable musicians such as drummer Roy Haynes, Chick Corea, Junior Cook, Elvin Jones, Clarence “C” Sharpe, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargove, and others. He has done studio work, arranging and musical direction for Lauryn Hill, as well as performing with and arranging for Arturo O’Farrill’s Grammy Award-winning Jazz at Lincoln Center Afro-Latin Orchestra. He’s currently touring and recording with a group he has started named Now vs. Now, while continuing on with the Jason Lindner Big Band.
