  Yuksel Arslan

Born in Istanbul in 1933, Arslan has been living and working in Paris since 1961. His work was first seen in Istanbul in 1955 and drew the attention of critics and fellow artists for its unique technique and subject matter. In 1958 and again in 1961, Arslan was invited to participate in Surrealist exhibitions organized by André Breton, but was unable to leave Turkey at that time due to political restrictions. He later became an active participant in the intellectual circles of early-1960s Paris that included Jean-Paul Sarte, André Breton, Roland Topor, and Jean Dubuffet. Arslan’s work is currently is on view at the Santral Istanbul Museum in Istanbul, Turkey.
