This documentary film presents a different view of Islam through the eyes of a 12-year-old Turkish girl, Elif, who is in the process of learning the basics of a spiritual path called Mevlevism. Mevlevis, a part of the Sufi/Mystic tradition of Islam, are also known as Whirling Dervishes in the western world. The film follows Elif through the course of a year, while she learns how to whirl and discovers the position of women in the teachings of Mevlana (Rumi), the founder of Mevlevism.
