Radoslav Spassov

Bulgarian cinematographer and director Radoslav Spassov was born in Ostrov, Bulgaria in 1943. He graduated from VGIK in Moscow with a degree in cinematography and continued his education in Paris with a scholarship from the French Government. One of Bulgaria’s most distinguished cinematographers, Spassov has shot more than 20 films working with some of Bulgaria’s best directors. He debuted as a director in 1993 with Sirna Nedelya (A Day of Forgiveness), which won the Second Place Award at Cottbus Film Festival in Germany. Otkradnati Ochi (Stolen Eyes) was selected as the official entry from Bulgaria for the 2005 Academy Awards in the Foreign Language Film category. Spassov served as a member of the Board of Directors of Boyana Film Studios, the president of the Bulgarian Association of Film Directors, the president of the Bulgarian Copyrights Association and currently is a member of the Bulgarian Association of Cinematographers.
