Nesli Colgecen

Nesli Çölgeçen was born in 1955. He studied journalism and broadcasting at Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences. He worked as an assistant director between 1974-1979, and directed his first documentary film Çati (The Roof) in 1979. After directing numerous TV commercials, Nesli Çölgeçen directed his first feature film Kardesim Benim in 1983, and won the Sedat Simavi Film Award. The film also received the Second Best Film and the Best Camera Director awards in Antalya Film Festival. Zügürt Aga (The Agha), Çölgeçen’s second feature film, received The Best Film Award in International Istanbul Film Festival; the Best Script and Best Score awards in Antalya Film Festival; and the Best Film of the Year and the Best Director prizes of Cinema Writers’ Association. His third feature film Selamsiz Bandosu received the Best Film prize of Film Critics Association, Best Film award of Tercüman daily neswpaper, and the Best Director award of the Turkish Ministry of Culture. His fourth feature film Imdat ve Zarife (Imdat and Zarife) was selected as the Best Film in the 10th Canary Islands Festival of Social and Ecological Films, and received the Best Director prize of the Turkish Ministry of Culture. He directed his latest feature film Oyunbozan in 2000.
