| Mert Baykal
Mert Baykal was born in 1979 in Ankara, and moved to
Istanbul at the age of 8. He performed in Soyut Padisah when
he was ten years old, and in Parasiz Yasamak Pahali when he was
fourteen. Both plays were staged at “Ortaoyuncular”, Ferhan Sensoy’s theatre
company. Mert Baykal started his cinema education in Istanbul Bilgi University,
then transfered to George Mason University in Virginia. He graduated with
a BA in communications and a minor in media production in 2002 before
returning to Turkey. He started his career in film as an intern at Sinan
Çetin’s Plato Film Production Co. Before becoming one of Sinan Çetin’s
first assistant directors, he worked actively in almost all aspect of
film production for three years. He worked as an assistant director in
many TV commercials and feature films. He directed his first feature film,
Pardon, in 2005. |
