Turquartet

Asli Özsoy Korner (violin)
Asli Özsoy Korner received her first violin lessons from her father, Ilhan Özsoy. She graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory as the top student in the Music Department, and received the Ihsan Dogramaci Special Award. After graduating from the Conservatory, Korner won the German Academic Exchange Service scholarship to study at Detmold Graduate School of Music, which gave her the opportunity to work with Professor Eckhard Fischer and Kolya Blacher, the featured violinist of Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Since completing her formal music study, she has been working as an assistant concertmaster for the State Opera and Ballet Repertory orchestra since 2001 and touring with Turquartet in Turkey.

Emel Akçay Özer (violin)
Emel Akçay Özer studied violin with Menyhert Konstantin and chamber music with Ulvi Yücelen at the Ankara State Conservatory from 1980 to 1990. Concurrent enrollment at Bilkent University gave her the opportunity to work with Professor Suna Kan. After she joined the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Repertory in 1990, she traveled to New York to study violin with Yuri Vodovoz and chamber music with Nancy Garnier at the Mannes College of Music. She has toured with the Ankara Chamber Music Orchestra and Turquartet both in Turkey and abroad. Akçay, who writes for the music section of several Turkish newspapers and magazines, currently works at the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Repertory.

Ercan Gören (viola)
Ercan Gören joined the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Repertory after studying at the Ankara State Conservatory from 1983 to 1993. He won second place at the Young Musician of the Year contest organized by the British Council and visited Manchester, UK to pursue his music studies. Gören has toured with the Ankara Chamber Music Orchestra and Turquartet in Turkey and abroad.

Demet Kiyici (cello)
Demet Kiyici studied cello with Dogan Cangal at the Ankara State Conservatory from 1982 to 1992. She premiered Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Cellos in Turkey while she was a student. Kiyici, who was awarded the second place at the conservatory and the first place in her department, has been the solo cellist at concerts and recordings of the Rainbow Chamber Orchestra and has toured with the Ankara Chamber Music Orchestra and Turquartet in Turkey and abroad. She currently works at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Repertory.
