Thurman Barker (drums)
Thurman Barker is making a name for himself as a figure on the forefront of avant-garde jazz, alongside names such as Cecil Taylor, Muhal Richard Abrams, and Sam Rivers, with whom he has worked. Having worked also as a composer and an educator, Barker is heralded by some as the Philly Joe Jones of contemporary jazz. His latest release is Strike Force from Uptee Productions.
