Muammer
Yanmaz
Muammer Yanmaz was born in 1969 in Istanbul. He attended the Lycée
de Saint Michel and later the Department of Communications at Istanbul University.
Yanmaz turned photography, which he started practicing in high school, into
a lifestyle. He chose commercial photography as his profession and has been
running his own studio since 1995. Yanmaz also does archival photography
for the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts. His exhibitions include
40 Directors and 40 Female Directors. Two other projects,
40 Ships and 40 Transvestites are in progress. Yanmaz
likes to work with themes related to metropolitan portraiture and he invests
in the future by documenting familiar faces of daily life. He plans to pursue
his series of 40 by portraying several cities and the various stories of
their inhabitants.
