Bülent Ortaçgil surely takes his place among the top musicians performing in Turkey today. In fact, to say that he is a living legend wouldn't be too far off the mark. Known for playing acoustic guitar-based folk pop, composing utterly original melodies, and writing wry, philosophical song lyrics, Ortaçgil got his start in 1974 with the release of Benimle Oynar misin? Thirty years after its release, his debut album is still considered one of the most influential albums in Turkish pop music history.

Ortaçgil's early influences include The Beatles, Cat Stevens, and Bob Dylan. Although Ortaçgil took a long break from the music world after the release of his first album, he staged a comeback in 1986 and released an album with Fikret Kizilok, Pencere Önü Çiçegi. His next release, Oyuna Devam, brought together the musicians with whom he would work throughout the next decade and who will perform with him in this New York appearance: Erkan Ogur and Cem Aksel. Ortaçgil's latest album, Gece Yalanlari, was released in 2003.

In 2001, top names in Turkish rock and pop, including Sezen Aksu, Zuhal Olcay, Sebnem Ferah, Teoman, Yildiz Ibrahimova, Bulutsuzluk Özlemi, Mor ve Ötesi, and Aysegül Aldinç, recorded a tribute album in honor of Ortaçgil-an honor that points to Ortaçgil's influence and esteem in the music industry. We are very proud to present this rare opportunity to hear Ortaçgil perform in New York and hope you will join us for an unforgettable night of music history.
