Osman Sahin
Born in Mersin in 1940, Osman Sahin is a teacher and an author. After
graduating from the Dicle Village Institute and the Gazi Educational Institute's
Physical Education Department, he worked as a teacher in southeastern
Anatolia, Malatya, Izmit, and Istanbul. Sahin is renowned for a poetic
flair for story-telling that he credits to the Anatolian village where
he grew up. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Turkish
Radio and Television (TRT) Award (1970), the Nevzat Üstün Fiction Award
(1980), the Ömer Seyfettin Award (1992), the Sait Faik Award (1993), and
the Yunus Nadi Award (1988 and 2003). His contributions to Turkish cinema
earned him the Aziz Nesin Honorary Award at the Ankara Film Festival (1997),
and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Antalya Film Festival in (1999).
