Erkan Ogur (Fretless Electric Guitar)
Erkan Ogur graduated from the Classical Turkish Music Department of the Istanbul State Conservatory and has been playing the fretless electric guitar since 1976. Ogur also plays the violin, along with various traditional Turkish instruments such as the ud, the tanbur, the baglama, and the cümbüs. His main interest has been the development of new sounds, and his style is a fusion of Anatolian folk music and the tradition of Asik Veysel with the music of Jimi Hendrix. The unique school of technique that he developed for fretless electric guitar features a combination of slides and microtones.
