Reis Çelik

Reis Çelik was born in Ardahan in 1963. After completing secondary school he moved to Istanbul, where he studied music and theater at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory. He had several of his essays, stories and poems published in a variety of literary and political magazines. In 1982, he embarked on a career in journalism and worked as an economic and political correspondent for various national newspapers. During that time, he also worked as the cameraman, editor and director of Video Gazete, the first example of a private television program in Turkey. Çelik has made around six hundred commercials, as well as several political campaign films. His photographs have been exhibited in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Australia. In 1996, he directed and co-wrote his first full-length feature film, Işıklar Sönmesin (Let There Be Light), which was followed by Hoşçakal Yarın (Goodbye Tomorrow) in 1998. İnat Hikayeleri (Tales of Intransigence) is Çelik's third feature film.
