AHMET CIVELEK

Ahmet Civelek was born in New York in 1988, and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, his parents’ country of origin. His interest in the visual arts began at age 11, when he was trained in the painting technique of marbling, and over the years, he explored different painting mediums, including acrylic paints, which would later become his medium of choice. At the age of 14, Civelek enrolled at the Uskudar American Academy, where he attended painting classes, while also participating in Deniz Orkus Fine Arts Studio in Istanbul. At the age of 17, Civelek left Turkey and enrolled at Pratt Institute in New York where he is currently entering his senior year as a Painting major, while also serving as an artist’s assistant for Ahmed Akkad, a New York-based Egyptian painter. Civelek’s works are currently on display at Pratt’s Fine Arts Gallery.
